Due 5/3

Q.
1. What was the climax of the story?

2. What was the social commentary?
3. Why did you like/dislike the novel?

A.
1. There are many exhilaratingmoments in the story, but I believe the climax would be the event where Bernard reveals the fact that John (savage) is the Director's son and Linda was the "mother". I believe this is the climax because not only does Bernard's personality changes for the worse, John's idea and belief of the "new world" is redefined.

2.THe social commentary is that in order to have a perfect world, people have to lose their rights to knowledge, opinion, beliefs, passion, and live in a world of totalitarianism.
Otherwise, we can live with our rights, but also live with the rights to be ill, diseased, in poverty, unhappiness, and pain.

3. I greatly enjoyed this novel because of its storyline, the conflicts that torment John, and the idea of trouble in paradise. I also enjoyed the isolation which a few characters go through and the questioning of their society.
